Community Agreements

At Echo Pond, we believe in creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every camper can thrive. We value respect for others, ourselves, and the environment. Our hope is that every camper feels safe and welcome at camp and leaves having had a positive experience.

Please review the following community agreements with your camper before they attend camp. None of these agreements are new, but we feel that providing them ahead of time for campers to review with their families will help everyone get on the same page before they arrive at camp!

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, we promise to:

Respect Others

We don’t expect campers to befriend every person they meet at camp, but we do expect them to treat others with kindness and respect.

  • Use appropriate language (no swearing).
  • Respect personal space and boundaries.
  • Include others whenever possible.
  • Listen when others are speaking. Do not interrupt counselors when they are giving messages to the group.

Respect the Environment

We strive to care for our beautiful forest and the property where camp takes place.

  • Have a plan for plants. For example, picking berries is okay, but breaking branches is not.
  • Leave no trace. Clean up after ourselves and keep our surroundings litter free.
  • Respect camp buildings and program materials. Please do not draw on walls or break things.

Respect Ourselves

We need to take good care of our body and mind while we are at camp.

  • Take care of our bodies by drinking water, eating enough at meals, wearing sunscreen and appropriate clothing, and getting enough sleep.
  • Try new games and activities.
  • Keep ourselves safe by following all safety rules at camp.
  • Let a counselor know if you need help solving a problem. This could be anything from having a hard time falling asleep to having trouble with another camper. If we do not know, we cannot help.
