Camp Counselor Positions 2025

Echo Pond Summer Camp is seeking Camp Counselors for the 2025 season, running from July 14th – August 29th. Training will take place June 28-30.

Located 1 hour and 15 minutes from St. John’s, Echo Pond Summer Camp is an overnight nature camp that provides positive outdoor experiences for a diverse group of children and teens, ages 7-16. Our programming is based on Experiential, Earth Education, and Forest and Nature School principles, and we emphasize adventure, hands-on learning, and community-building.

We are looking for enthusiastic, responsible, and caring individuals with strong leadership skills who can work collaboratively to solve problems and create an engaging and supportive camp environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Enjoys working with kids and has experience in a camp, school, or educational setting
  • Has strong leadership skills and works well in a team environment
  • Has an interest in ecology, sustainability, and outdoor education (university/college courses in a related field are an asset)
  • Thrives in an outdoor environment and is comfortable leading activities in nature
  • Is adaptable, motivated, and compassionate
  • Can work collaboratively to find solutions to challenges that arise at camp
  • Has First Aid and CPR certification (or is willing to obtain it before camp starts)
  • Must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check before the start of camp

Preferred Skills and Experience:

We are looking for counsellors who have experience in at least some of the following:
🌲 Wilderness skills – canoeing, fire making, camping, whittling, and other outdoor survival skills
🎶 Playing a musical instrument or leading campfire songs
🎨 Leading arts and crafts sessions
🎭 Leading drama, storytelling, or theatre activities
🏕 Outdoor adventure leadership – guiding groups through nature-based activities

We Provide:

Paid training (June 28-30)
Transportation to and from St. John’s
Meals and accommodation during camp sessions
A supportive and inclusive work environment

Compensation:

  • $16 – $20 per hour, depending on experience
  • Up to 330 hours over the summer, including 60 hours of overtime at time and a half
